NHK announced that because of the sudden dip in temperatures and subsequent increase in electric usage there might be unscheduled blackouts in Tokyo itself tonight. So I might be out of contact for a while.
Also, since 5pm the trains have greatly reduced the number of trains running to save power, so the trains are unusually crowded. Companies have let people off work early, but it doesn’t seem to help.
