Mon lays two eggs

After a respite of more than a month, Mon-chan laid 2 eggs this morning. One right in front of me!

She lays them while sitting on her top perch, so they fall to the floor of the cage. One has a hole in it, but the other seems intact.

I moved the eggs to Hao and Mon’s joint cage and put Mon in the joint cage as well, but as before both Hao and Mon are completely ignoring the eggs.

Well, I think there are two fundamental problems:1. Mon loves Hao and follows him all over the place. But Hao doesn’t like Mon and is always trying to get away from her. So I suspect they haven’t actually “done anything” that would cause the eggs to be fertilized.Side-note: Speaking of “the birds and the bees,” to be honest, I really have no idea how either birds or bees actually do it.2. Mon is, to put it as kindly as possible, stupid. If she keeps on laying eggs from the top perch and letting them fall down and crack nothing’s going to get accomplished.doug

There have been 4 more eggs in the last 4 days, but I think they are all unfertilized.
