Doug Lerner reports from Tokyo and St. Louis, and points beyond…

My Asahi Net Internet service is currently down. Using my normal settings I can’t connect at all to the outside world. But I am subscribed to StrongVPN for when I need my computer to appear to be in the U.S. If I turn on my VPN I can connect!  With StrongVPN I must be bypassing some basic stuff at my domestic provider and just using the fiber optic line to go through the VPN system. Very interesting! I should learn how VPNs work sometime. 🙂

So this is another good reason to subscribe to a VPN service. StrongVPN’s service has been excellent since I joined. And I’m getting a very good 8 Mbps up and down speed right now, even though I’m connecting from Tokyo through StrongVPN’s San Francisco server.
