Doug Lerner reports from Tokyo and St. Louis, and points beyond…

What’s amazing about “Climategate” is that even though all it revealed were a few scientists acting petty and one or two minor bad actors, groups who simply do not want to believe in climate change or its causes for political or religious reasons continue to bandy it about as though it was some sort of “smoking gun.”

Even though the sum total of so-called “climategate” did not actually refute one iota of the overwhelming scientific consensus regarding the existence and causes of global climate change, certain political groups, like the Tea Party, seem to take some sort of arrogant pride in their professed ignorance about what is happening to the environment and try to leverage “climategate” as some sort of political icon.
It’s as though these people believe environmental science depends on whether you are conservative or liberal or whether you believe in the bible or not. They remind me of creationists. Or the people who once voted that pi equals exactly 3.

These people are not interested in actual scientific evidence at all. They have reached their conclusion based on their political or religious philosophy and that’s that for them.

Here’s an interesting read:

“In fact, nothing in the stolen e-mails or computer code undermines in any way the scientific consensus—which exists among scientific publications as well as scientists—that climate change is happening and humans are the cause.”
